Short Chin/Frontal Cheekbone/Paranasal Augmentation : Post-Operative Instructions |
Medication
- Take only the analgesics and antibiotics prescribed by the plastic surgeon. - If you need additional pain control, you can take Tylenol. Do not take aspirin, which can lead to uncontrolled bleeding. |
Bruising and swelling
- Do not arbitrarily remove the bandage, tape, etc. after surgery. - Bruising and swelling will grow severe for two to three days after surgery and then gradually subside afterwards. It takes about two to three months for the swelling to go down completely, but there are individual differences. - Use a cold compress on the rose for two to three days and a warm compress afterwards to effectively relief swelling and bruising. |
Posture
- Keep your upper body up to minimize swelling and do not lower your head or bend down. Sleep on your back without turning your neck to the side. |
Sensation
- There may be areas where there is a loss of sensation after surgery, or facial movements may feel somewhat uncomfortable due to the repositioning of the muscles. Such abnormal sensation and discomfort begin to improve a couple of months after surgery. |
Food - Eat porridge for about seven days after surgery and start eating regular food afterwards. Avoid tough foods for about a month. |
Oral care
- Facial sculpting surgery is generally performed from inside the mouth, so use a mouthwash frequently to prevent inflammation. You must use a mouthwash after a meal. You can start brushing your teeth three days after surgery, but be careful not to poke the incision site. We also recommend using a toothbrush for babies with soft bristles. |
Smoking and drinking
- Alcohol can cause inflammation and smoking causes contraction of the blood vessels, resulting in skin damage or necrosis or delays in healing. So do not drink or smoke for a month. |
Day-to-day activities and exercise
- You can take a light shower the day after surgery, but avoid bathing and saunas for a month. |
